On February 26, the "Yongzhou" TBM, a super-large diameter shield machine with a cutterhead painted with a "Rui Long" (Auspicious Dragon) pattern, was launched. With a cutterhead diameter of 14.57 meters, it will be used in the construction of the Ningbo end of the Jintang underwater tunnel of the Yongzhou Railway, currently the world's longest underwater high-speed rail tunnel. The "Yongzhou" TBM was jointly developed by China Railway No. 14 Bureau Group and China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Group. It is 135 meters long, weighs 4350 tons, and is equipped with 308 specially designed cutter tools, reaching world-class standards in overall assembly.
On February 26, the "Yongzhou" TBM, a super-large diameter shield tunneling machine with a cutterhead painted with a "Ruilong" pattern, was launched. The cutterhead has a digging diameter of 14.57 meters and will be used in the construction of the Ningbo section of the Jintang underwater tunnel of the Yongzhou Railway, currently the world's longest underwater high-speed rail tunnel. The "Yongzhou" TBM was jointly developed by China Railway No. 14 Bureau Group and CRCC Heavy Industry Group. It is 135 meters long, weighs 4350 tons, is equipped with 308 specially designed cutter tools, and has achieved world-class standards.
The Jintang underwater tunnel is one of the key control projects of the Yongzhou Railway. The tunnel starts from Yinzhou District, Ningbo City in the west and ends at Jintang Town, Zhoushan City in the east. It is 16.18 kilometers long, with an 11.2-kilometer shield tunneling section and a maximum buried depth of 78 meters. The tunnel crosses the 100,000-ton Jintang main channel. Two TBMs will start from Ningbo and Zhoushan respectively and advance towards each other, eventually meeting underwater. The precision requirement is that the error should not exceed 20 millimeters. This will be the world's first underwater docking and dismantling of super-large diameter shield tunneling machines.
It is reported that the "Dinghai" TBM, which started from the Zhoushan working well, was successfully launched at the beginning of this year. The "Yongzhou" TBM, which started from the Ningbo working well, will advance alone for 4940 meters. Staff introduced that, in view of the complex construction characteristics of the underwater tunnel, the project team has made six innovative designs for the TBM. For the first time in the world, an intelligent monitoring system for cutter wear has been developed and applied, making the cutterhead more wear-resistant and rock-breaking, ensuring excavation efficiency.
